Sound Practitioners.

Ben Burtt:
Burtt is an american sound designer, film editor, director, screenwriter, and voice actor. He has worked as a sound designer in various films including : the Star Wars films, the Indiana Jones film series, E.T. the Extra-Terrestial, and WALL-E. Burtt is most known for the sound effects in the Star Wars film franchise and WALL-E. He created the voice of R2-D2, the lightsaber hum, the sound of the blaster guns, and the heavy breathing of Darth Vader in Star Wars. And in WALL-E the sound effects EVA and WALL-E himself.

Jack Foley:
In sound Foley art is actually named after Jack Foley, who was the first ever foley artist. He was a Foley artist, Writer and Director. He was known for his work as a foley artist in, Spartacus, Dracula, Show Boat, and The Phantom of the Opera. He was a developer of many sound effects techniques used in filmmaking, foley being his main attribute. His crucial founding role in the development of foley is documented in, Vanessa Theme Ament (2009). The Foley Grail. London: Focal Press.
Foley received many awards for his work, including the Golden Reel Award.

Dan O’connell:
O’connell isn’t partially well know and he hasn’t developed unique techniques to help progress in sound design, in fact he has learnt from practitioners such as Jack Foley and Ben Burtt. But I’m inspired by him, he has worked as a foley artist for a huge amounts of great films, in facts he has been credited for 339 films in the sound department. He is known for his work in, Gladiator, Pirates of the caribbean: The curse of the black pearl, Skyfall, Million Dollar Baby, and the Iron man films. He is currently producing sound for, 300: Rise of an Empire and X-Men: Days of Future Past, which I’m looking forward to.

Hugo Adams:
Adams is a Foley editor, and again with O’connell he is not well known but he has worked on some huge films. I had to mention Adams as it shows my interest in numerous roles in the sound department and I love the films he has worked on. He is known for working on, V for Vendetta, Slumdog Millionaire, Gravity, 127 hours, Sunshine, and The Woman in Black. Hugo has also edited music for, 28 Days Later and Millions.

James Moriana: 
Moriana is a foley artist for films and video games. I loved his work on, Fable 2/3, Gears of war 2/3, Resistance franchise, and my favourite The Last Of Us. Although these are video games the foley concept is exactly the same. Im also a huge Game Of Thrones fan which Moriana also did the foley for in 20 episodes. He is probally my favourite foley artist as I love the video games, Films and Television shows he has worked on. James Moriana is known for his work in Gladiator, American Beauty, Inglourious Basterds, and Kill Bill: Vol. 1.

Christopher Boyes: 
Boyes is an american sound engineer. He has won four academy awards and has been nominated for another nine. The awards were for his work in, Titanic, Pearl Harbor, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and, King Kong. Boyes in know for his work in, Avatar, Pirates of the caribbean series, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and The Avengers. For me Boyles is a big inspiration and I have followed him for many years, I love his work.

Walter Murch:
Murch has been editing sound in Hollywood since starting on Francis Ford Coppola’s film The Rain People(1969). He edited sound on American Graffiti(1973) and The Godfather: Part II(1974), won his first Academy Award nomination for The Conversation, won his first Oscar for Apocalypse Now. To date, Walter Murch is the only artist ever to win Oscars for both film editing and sound engineering on a single film. The English Patient, 1996. Murch is known for his work on The Godfather part 1,2 and 3, The English Patient, Apocalypse Now, and Jarhead.

Composers

John Murphy:
John Murphy  is an English film composer. He is a self-taught multi-instrumental musician who began his career in the 1980s working notably with The Lotus Eaters, Thomas Lang, Gary Wall (singer) and Claudia Brücken. Murphy is best known for composing the music for Guy Ritchie’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Michael Mann’s Miami Vice, Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass, and theDanny Boyle films 28 Days Later, Millions, and Sunshine.

Hans Zimmer:

Hans Florian Zimmer is a German film composer and music producer. He has composed music for over 100 films, including award-winning film scores for The Lion King (1994), Crimson Tide(1995), The Thin Red Line (1998), Gladiator (2000), The Last Samurai (2003), The Dark Knight (2008), and Inception (2010). Zimmer spent the early part of his career in the United Kingdom before moving to the United States. He is the head of the film music division at DreamWorks studios and works with other composers through the company which he founded, Remote Control Productions.

James Horner:

James Roy Horner is an American composer, conductor, and orchestrator of orchestral and film music. He is noted for the integration of choral and electronic elements in many of his film scores, and for frequent use of Celtic musical elements. His score to the 1997 film Titanic remains the best selling orchestral film soundtrack of all time. In addition, Horner has scored over 100 films, frequently collaborating with acclaimed directors such as James Cameron, Mel Gibson and Ron Howard. Horner is known for, Titanic, Avatar, Braveheart, and Troy.
